CRANBERRY CAKE WITH HOT BUTTER
SAUCE
 
2 tbsp. butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
2 c. whole, raw cranberries

SAUCE:

1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. cream

Thoroughly cream butter and sugar. Beat in vanilla. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Fold in cranberries. Pour into greased and floured 8 or 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees about 35 minutes. Top with hot butter sauce when you cut and serve it.

Sauce: Melt butter. Blend in sugar. Stir in cream. Simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
