ORANGE COOKIES 
2/3 c. shortening (butter)
2 tbsp. grated orange rind
2 c. flour (use dipping method--dip cup into the flour, level it off with a knife - don't sift)
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. orange juice
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Mix together shortening, sugar and egg. Stir in orange juice and rind. Add dry ingredients, blending thoroughly.

Drop by rounded teaspoons, about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Yields 3 dozen.

ORANGE FROSTING:

2 1/2 tbsp. soft butter
1 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 - 2 tbsp. orange juice
2 tsp. grated orange rind

Add just enough orange juice to make icing spreadable.
