PEAR CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. salad oil
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
4 eggs
1/2 c. almonds or walnuts
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. flour
3 ripe pears

Combine sugar, oil, baking powder, soda, cinnamon, ginger, salt, and flour. Beat 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time. Fold in pears and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour in a 9 x 13 inch pan.
