SPICY BAKED PEARS WITH YOGURT | |
5 lg. ripe Bartlett pears 1 c. dark brown sugar 3/4 c. fresh orange juice Ground nutmeg, cinnamon & cloves to taste 1 c. plain unflavored lowfat yogurt Mint sprigs for garnish Slice pears in half. Remove core with melon baller. Sprinkle bottom of glass baking dish with sugar. Lay pears cut side down on sugar. Pour orange juice over pears and sprinkle generously with nutmeg, cinnamon and pinch of cloves. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until just tender, basting occasionally. Cool completely or chill thoroughly. To Serve: Place 1 pear half, cut side down in each serving dish. Spoon on syrup. Top with dollop of yogurt and garnish with mint sprig at stem of pear. Makes 10 servings. |
