1 c. dates, chopped
1 1/2 c. boiling water
4 c. Basic Cake Mix
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
3/4 c. nuts, chopped
3/4 c. mint chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a 13 x 9 inch pan. In small bowl, combine dates and boiling water. Set aside to cool. In a large bowl, combine Basic Cake Mix, eggs, cinnamon and vanilla. Beat at medium speed 2 to 3 minutes. Scrape bowl and beaters and beat 2 more minutes. Add date mixture. Beat 2 more minutes. Pour into pan. Top with last 3 ingredients. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then cool on a wire rack. Makes 1 large cake.
