SOUTHERN SPOON BREAD 
2 c. boiling water
1 c. white meal
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs
2 c. milk

Pour boiling water over meal, stirring constantly, and boil 5 minutes. Remove from fire, add butter, salt and milk. Mix well. Beat eggs light, add to mixture, sift in the powders; mix well. Pour into greased baking dish and bake 1/2 hour in moderate oven. Serve from dish in which it is baked.
