BROWNSTONE FRONT CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1/2 lb. butter
1 c. buttermilk
2 blocks semi-sweet chocolate, dissolved in 1 c. hot water
3 eggs
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each. Add the soda to the buttermilk. Alternately add flour and buttermilk to creamed mixture; mix well. Add chocolate last; stir. Pour into 3 (8") greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.

FILLING:

3 c. sugar
1/2 lb. butter
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine sugar, butter and milk in saucepan. Boil for 8 minutes or until a small amount dropped in cold water forms a soft ball. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Spread on cooled cake.
