SWEET-SOUR POT ROAST 
1 tbsp. solid shortening
4 lbs. chuck or rump roast
2 onions, sliced
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 c. honey
1/4 c. granulated sugar
Juice of 2 lemons
1 tsp. salt or to taste

Heat shortening in Dutch oven or heavy skillet with tight fitting lid. Add meat and onions; brown turning frequently. Add pepper, cloves, honey, sugar, lemon juice and salt. Cover tightly. Simmer slowly over low heat or bake in 300 degree oven for 3 to 3 1/2 hours until meat is tender.
