SWEDISH HEIRLOOM COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. sifted powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. ground almonds

Cream shortening and butter until lightly fluffy. Add 1 cup powdered sugar and 1/2 teaspoon salt, mix well. Stir in flour. Stir in water, vanilla and ground almonds. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Place on ungreased baking sheets and flatten lightly. Bake at 325 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until done. Dip cookies in powdered sugar while they are still warm.
