WHOLE GRAIN JAM SQUARES | |
2 c. quick oats 1 3/4 c. flour 1 c. butter 1 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. chopped nuts 1 tsp. cinnamon 3/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking soda 3/4 c. jam or preserves Combine all ingredients except preserves in bowl. Beat at low speed until mixture is crumbly. Reserve 2 cups of mixture. Press remaining mixture into bottom of greased 9"x13" pan. Spread preserves evenly over bottom. Sprinkle with reserved mixture. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Variation: Omit nuts, add 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/8 teaspoon cloves to oatmeal mixture. Substitute 1 cup applesauce, 3/4 cup raisins and 1/2 cup nuts for preserves. |
