IN-ONE-BOWL-CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 3/4 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/2 sqs. melted unsweetened chocolate

Cream shortening. Sift dry ingredients into shortening. Add milk and vanilla. Mix well. Beat with electric mixer at medium speed for 2 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and beat 2 minutes more. Pour into loaf pans - or two 9 inch round layer cake pans, greased and floured. Bake loaf cake at 350 degrees for 1 hour, 9 inch layers for 30 minutes.

IN-ONE-BOWL-CHOCOLATE ICING:

2 sqs. unsweetened melted chocolate
2 c. confectioners' sugar
1/3 c. Crisco
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 tbsp. evaporated milk or light cream

Place all ingredients in mixing bowl. Beat at medium speed until creamy.
