ONE-BOWL CHOCOLATE CAKE | |
1 1/8 c. flour 1 1/4 c. sugar 1/2 c. cocoa 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 2/3 c. vegetable shortening 1 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla 2 eggs 1 can "ready to spread" frosting Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 2 (8 inch) round cake pans. Measure flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt into bowl and blend well. Add shortening, 2/3 cup milk and vanilla. Beat 2 minutes on low speed of mixer, scrape sides and bottom of bowl often. Add eggs and the remaining milk and beat for 2 minutes more. Pour into pans and bake for 25 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool 10 minutes on wire rack. Remove cakes from pans and allow to cool completely before topping with frosting. |
