VIENNESE CRESCENTS | |
My Mother started making these in the 1960s. They are loved by everyone in our family especially at Christmas. 1 lb. (4 sticks) butter, unsalted at room temperature 1/2 cup granulated sugar 4 cups all-purpose flour 2 cups finely ground pecans 2 tsp. vanilla confectioners' sugar, for rolling and sprinkling Preheat oven to 300°F. Cream the butter, then add the granulated sugar mixing well. Then add the flour a cup at a time mixing well. Mix in nuts and vanilla mixing well. Shape with your fingers into delicate crescents about 1-inch long and not too thick. Roll in confectioners' sugar. Bake on on ungreased cookie sheet lined with parchment paper at 300°F for about 30 minutes until lightly browned. Cool, then sift with more confectioners' sugar and sift again before storing. Makes about 100 small cookies. Submitted by: LJR |
