I made this soup with fresh tomatoes from my garden. It was a big hit in my house and I have three children ages 8, 10 and 12. I added fresh basil to the soup for extra flavor.

First time I made tomato bisque. It was amazing! What a warm, healthy dish for a drizzly day. I used reconstituted powdered milk for the milk. A great way to use pantry goods. I also used one can of tomato sauce and one can of diced tomatoes because that is what I had on hand. For my kids' benefit, I blended the tomato mixture in my blender before adding it to the white sauce. Served with grilled-cheese sandwiches, this made a delicious comfort-food meal packed with veggies and dairy!

I too blended the tomato mixture before adding to the milk.

Problem was, the tomato mixture curdled the milk. Did I need to add baking soda at some point? Possibly after blending the tomatoes, bring them to a simmer, then stir in the soda so it is fizzing when I pour the tomatoes into the milk? Will try this next time.

Love it. Mrs. Charlotte if you milk curdled turn down the heat to low and whisk/fold the tomato into milk slowly.
