DUTCH APPLE FARM CAKE 
1/4 c. butter, soft
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
4 c. finely chopped and peeled apples
1/2 c. coarsely chopped pecans or walnuts

Grease and flour 9 inch square cake pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Sift all dry ingredients - set aside. In mixing bowl, cream butter with sugar until light. Beat in egg. By hand, fold in apples. Then, also by hand, fold in sifted dry ingredients and nuts. Mix well - batter will be thick. Pour into prepared pan - bake 45 to 50 minutes. Serve warm or cold with cream, whipped or plain, or ice cream.
