GREAT-GREAT GRANDMOTHER BEENY'S DUTCH APPLE CAKE | |
1/2 c. butter 1 c. milk 2 c. flour Pinch of salt 1 egg 1 tsp. baking powder 4 apples Cinnamon and sugar Combine butter, milk, flour, egg, salt and baking powder. Dough should be thick enough to spread 1/2 inch thick in shallow pan. Cut up apples in eights, and lay on top of dough-edges down. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes. SAUCE: 1 tbsp. flour 1 c. sugar 1 c. boiling water 1 tbsp. butter Mix flour and sugar together and then add boiling water, then butter and mix thoroughly. Allow to come to a boil, and boil 3 minutes. Remove and add vanilla flavoring or any flavoring desired. |
