APPLE ROLL 
8 cooking apples
Pie crust recipe (or Bisquick recipe for dough)

PIE CRUST:

2 c. flour
3/4 c. Crisco
1/2 tsp. salt

SYRUP:

1 c. white sugar
2 c. water
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Boil together until sugar is melted. Grated apples medium fine. Reserve 2 to 3 apples for topping. Roll dough on pastry board. Spread apples on dough. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over apples, add lumps of butter on top and roll up like a jelly roll. Cut in half or in 1/3 to fit pan and reserved apples; spread on top of roll. Pour warm syrup over roll. Cover with foil until apples are tender, then uncover to brown. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
