APPLE-CINNAMON ROLL 
3 c. flour
2 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/8 c. milk
3 tbsp. butter, softened
3 1/2 c. chopped tart apples
3 tbsp. lemon juice
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together in mixing bowl; cut in shortening. Add milk all at once; stir until ingredients are just dampened.

Turn out on floured board; knead to mix well. Roll out in rectangle 1/4 inch thick; brush with softened butter.

Combine apples, lemon juice, brown sugar and cinnamon; arrange over pastry. Roll up as for jelly roll. Cut into 1 inch slices; place on well-buttered baking pan.

Bake in preheated 450 degree oven for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees; bake for 25 minutes longer. Serve hot with cream or sauce, if desired.
