STEAMED FIG PUDDING 
1/2 lb. dried figs
1 c. ground suet
1/2 c. molasses
1/2 c. flour
2 c. dried bread crumbs
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. milk
2 eggs, well beaten
1/2 c. sugar
1 lb. coffee can

Cut figs in small pieces. Sift flour, measure and sift with baking soda, salt and nutmeg. Combine figs, suet, crumbs, milk, eggs, molasses and sugar. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Fill well oiled 1 pound can 2/3 full, cover with heavy duty aluminum foil. Steam 3 hours. Serve hot with vanilla sauce. Serves 6.
