VELVET SHORTBREAD 
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. butter
3/4 c. sifted powdered sugar

Sift flour and baking powder. Cream butter. Add powdered sugar. Combine well. Work in dry ingredients with hands until smooth. Form into ball. Wrap in foil and chill for 2 hours or longer. Roll out. Cut into shapes.

Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees until lightly browned. Watch towards end of baking time as shortbread browns easily.
