SCALLOPED POTATOES WITH CHEESE 
4 med. potatoes
1 tsp. garlic
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 c. shredded cheese
2 eggs
1 2/3 c. half and half

Cut potatoes into enough thin slices to measure 4 cups. Brush oblong baking pan with butter. Arrange potatoes in 3 layers, sprinkling each layer with one third of the salt, nutmeg and cheese. Beat egg and half and half, pour over potato slices. Dot with 1 tablespoon of butter. Cook, uncovered in 350 degree oven for about 1 hour.
