THE BEST STRAWBERRY CAKE 
1 red velvet cake mix
1 box strawberry gelatin
3/4 cup oil
1/2 cup buttermilk
4 eggs
1 cup frozen strawberries

Add dry strawberry gelatin to your dry cake mix and set aside. Crush frozen strawberries a little before adding to mix.

Mix dry cake mix (yes the red velvet cake mix... this is NOT a TYPO) with gelatin. Add oil, buttermilk, eggs and crushed frozen strawberries. Mix with mixer very well, about 3 minutes.

Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes for 3 layers. If you prefer a 13 x 9 cake pan you will probably cook this about 50-55 minutes depending on your oven and your altitude. Watch it closely. You do not want the sides to get too brown. Let cool.

Icing:

1/2 stick butter room temp
2 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
4 heaping teaspoons sour cream
4 oz. cream cheese room temp
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 dashes of salt, (about 1/2 tsp)

Combine all icing ingredients and mix with blender. You may want to double icing ingredients for a layered cake. Nuts are optional. You are on your own from here. This cake will melt in your mouth. Everybody will want your recipe. You will be the hit of the party. Happy Baking !!!

Very rich and moist. The icing is delectable. I used a Pyrex baking dish and it took a little over 50 minutes.
