DATE - NUT BARS | |
1 lb. chopped dates 2 tsp. baking soda 2 tbsp. butter 2 eggs 2 c. sugar 3 c. flour 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. nuts Stir baking soda into 2 cups boiling water. Pour over chopped dates. Add butter. Soak until cool. Mix together in bowl the beaten eggs and sugar. Stir in the flour and vanilla. Add date mixture from first bowl and mix. Fold in nuts. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes in greased 9 x 13 glass dish. Cool and cut into bars. Roll in powdered sugar. |
