AUNT MARGARET'S COMPANY BEST
PICKLES
 
10 med. cucumbers
8 c. sugar
2 tbsp. mixed pickling spices
5 tsp. salt
4 c. cider vinegar

Cover whole cucumbers with boiling water. Let stand until the next morning. Drain. Repeat for next 3 mornings. On the 5th morning drain and cut up into one half inch pieces.

Combine sugar, spices, salt and vinegar. Bring to boiling and pour over cucumbers. Let stand 2 days. On the 3rd day bring to boiling and seal in hot sterilized jars. Makes 7 pints.
