4 c. vinegar 4 tbsp. pickling salt 1 tbsp. powdered alum 2 tbsp. pickling spices Combine and pour over cucumbers packed in a gallon jar, enough to cover. Let stand 3 weeks. Pour off vinegar solution and discard. Slice cucumbers in large container. Cover with 4 cups sugar, 2 tablespoons water; let dissolve. Pack in gallon jar with lid. Refrigerate or grind for relish. |
