FOUR DAY SWEET PICKLES 
5 qts. of 3 (6") cucumbers
1/2 c. salt
8 c. sugar
6 c. vinegar
3/4 tsp. turmeric
2 tbsp. pickling spices
8 cinnamon sticks

First day morning: In a crock or dishpan cover cukes with boiling water.

First day afternoon: drain and cover with fresh boiling water.

Second day morning: Drain, cover with fresh boiling water.

Second day afternoon: Drain, cover with fresh boiling water and the salt.

Third day morning: Drain; cut cukes into chunks and cover with boiling syrup of 3 cups sugar, 3 cups vinegar and all of the spices.

Third day afternoon: Drain but save the syrup and add to it, 2 cups sugar and 2 cups vinegar. Bring to a boil and cover cukes.

Fourth day morning: Repeat 3rd P.M. but add to syrup 2 cups sugar and 1 cup vinegar.

Fourth day P.M.: Repeat above step but add 1 cup sugar. Bring to boil, pack in pint jars and seal.
