JOHN MARZETTI CASSEROLE 
3 med. onions, chopped
1 1/2 - 2 lbs. ground chuck
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 lb. broad noodles or shell macaroni
1 lb. grated sharp cheese (4 c.)
2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce or soup

Saute onion, chuck, salt and pepper in about 1/4 cup butter. Cook noodles until barely tender; drain. Toss noodles with about 1/4 cup butter; place in 2 (2 quart) casseroles.

Add 2/3 of the cheese mixture to meat mixture; stir until cheese melts; add 1 can tomato sauce. Pour over noodles. Top with 1 can tomato sauce (or mix this with meat with other can). Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Heat oven to 325 degrees. Bake casseroles uncovered 1 - 1 1/2 hours or until bubbling.

I have made this casserole for years but I add Tomato soup cream of mushroom soup, and Velveeta cheese. It has been a family favorite.
