PECAN CHEWS 
1 c. softened butter
1/4 c. white sugar
2 c. flour
1 c. shredded coconut
1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts
4 beaten eggs
2 tsp. vanilla

Place softened butter in bowl. Add white sugar and 2 cups flour. Mix thoroughly with hands and pat firmly into ungreased 11 x 16 jelly roll pan.

Bake in 350°F oven 12 minutes.

Combine the coconut, 1/4 cup flour, salt and nuts. Stir in beaten eggs and vanilla. Blend well and spread over partially baked cookie base. Return to oven and bake another 20 minutes at 350°F. Cool thoroughly (several hours or overnight). Cut into squares.

I have used this recipe several years. It was published in newspaper in 1950.
