RED VELVET CAKE 
1/4 c. (2 sm. bottles) red food coloring
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 c. buttermilk
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda

Mix cocoa and food coloring together. Let set, while mixing other ingredients. Cream Crisco, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat hard. Add cocoa mixture. Alternate flour, salt, soda, powder mixture with buttermilk. Add vinegar and beat. Pour in 2 (9 inch) pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

FROSTING:

1 stick butter
6 tbsp. Crisco
1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. powdered sugar
3 tbsp. flour
2/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix Crisco and butter until fluffy. Add the 2 sugars and beat until smooth. Add flour, milk and vanilla; beat HARD!!!
