DANISH PASTRY APPLE BARS | |
2 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1 c. Crisco 1 egg yolk Add enough milk to egg yolk to make 2/3 cup. FILLING: 2 handfuls of corn flakes 8 to 10 apples, diced 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon Brush top of crust before baking with egg white. FROSTING (optional) : 1 tbsp. water 1 c. powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla Mix crust, roll 1/2 dough to fill 10 x 15 inch pan. Sprinkle bottom of crust with crushed corn flakes. Place sliced apples on corn flake layer. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll remaining 1/2 of crust and place on top - crimp edges. Beat egg white, brush on crust. Bake at 400 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. Frost while warm. |
