DANISH PASTRY APPLE BARS WITH
GLAZE
 
CRUST:

2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 egg
Milk

FILLING:

1 c. corn flakes, crushed
10 peeled & sliced tart apples
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Combine flour and salt; cut in shortening. Beat egg yolk and add enough milk to make 2/3 cup liquid; mix well. Stir in flour mixture. On floured surface, roll 1/2 of dough to 17"x12" and place in jelly roll pan.

Mix apples, corn flakes, sugar and cinnamon. Put in crust. Place on top, seal edges. Beat white of egg and brush on top. Slit crust. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes.

GLAZE:

3-4 tsp. milk
1 c. powdered sugar

Combine milk and sugar; drizzle over baked bars.
