BAKED MACARONI AND CHEESE 
1 (8 or 9 oz.) pkg. macaroni
4 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. flour
2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. white pepper
1 tsp. onion, grated
1/2 lb. American cheese, grated
1 c. fine dry bread crumbs

Cook macaroni until tender in boiling salted water. Drain and rinse. Melt butter. Add flour and blend. Add milk gradually, stirring constantly. Add salt, pepper, grated onion and grate cheese. Pour over macaroni and turn into well buttered casserole. Sprinkle crumbs on top and cover with additional grated cheese. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 30 minutes. Serve with whole tomatoes stuffed with cole slaw. Serves 6.
