APPLESAUCE BRAN SQUARES | |
1 c. all purpose flour 2/3 c. Bran Buds, All Bran or 100% Bran 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. cloves or nutmeg 1/2 c. (1 stick) butter, room temperature 2 lg. egg whites, room temperature Liquid sugar substitute equal to 1/2 c. sugar 1/3 c. chopped nuts 1 c. unsweetened applesauce at room temperature 1/2 c. rolled oats 2 tbsp. brown sugar 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. vanilla Place dry ingredients in mixer bowl and mix at low speed for 1 minute. Add butter, egg whites, vanilla, sugar substitute, nuts and applesauce to flour mixture and mix at medium speed for 1/2 minute or until blended. Spread evenly in 9"x13" cake pan which has been greased with butter or sprayed with Pam spray. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until browned and it starts to pull away from side of pan. Cut 3"x5" into 15 squares and serve warm or at room temperature. 135 calories per serving. |
