CREAM CHEESE POUND CAKE
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
1 1/2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. butter (I use unsalted)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
2 c. sifted flour (not cake flour)

Combine softened cheese, butter, sugar and extract. Add eggs, beating until well blended. Gradually add flour mixed with the baking powder. (As stated above, bake 350 degrees for 1 hour - or until done, but please do not over bake.

The #1 pound cake! This is it! The cream cheese makes it. This cake, along with the German Cheese Cake, tastes much better after it "mellows" and refrigerated. Serve in thin slices, not big ones. I usually make at least 3 loaves, using 4x8 inch bread pans, by doubling this recipe. Otherwise pour batter into a tube pan and bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.
