CHILI CON CARNE 
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 c. chopped onion
3/4 c. chopped green pepper
1 (16 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 (16 oz.) can dark red kidney beans, drained
2 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. dried basil (crushed)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
Optional: hot Tabasco sauce, crushed red pepper to taste

In a large pot, saute chopped meat, onions and green pepper until meat is browned. Drain fat. Stir in crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, basil, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer about 45 minutes.

Optional: Serve with grated cheddar cheese and taco chips over rice. Serve with cornbread on the side. Serve with Margarita or Tequila sunrise.
