EBBIE'S FRENCH BISCUITS & HOMEMADE POWDERED SUGAR | |
I made this for my family one Christmas morning and they loved it! It is a little twist on the regular French Toast recipe. I was out of regular bread, since I used it all up for stuffing and the grocery stores were all closed (with it being Christmas morning). The powdered sugar substitute is great for people watching their sugar intake and my grand-kids didn't even notice the difference. They thought it was real powdered sugar, not homemade and I used Splenda instead of real sugar. ENJOY!!! French Biscuits: 1 can of 5 refrigerator biscuits (already baked and sliced in half) 6 large eggs 1/2 cup milk 2 tsp. baking powder 2 tsp. vanilla 1 tbsp. brown sugar 2 pinches nutmeg salt and pepper, to taste 4 tbsp. (1/2 stick) butter (for pan) Melt butter in pan. Combine rest of ingredients. Dip each biscuit half in egg mixture, soaking up mixture. (Do not over soak or it will fall apart). Place each egg mixture soaked biscuit half in pan and brown on both sides. Enjoy!! Homemade Powdered Sugar: 1 1/2 cups sugar (I used Splenda to cut sugar intake) 1 tbsp. cornstarch Combine sugar or sugar substitute and cornstarch in blender and blend for approximately 30 seconds. Powdered sugar will start to coat inside of blender, that's when you will know that it is ready. Enjoy!! Note: While blending, you will notice that the sugar will start reducing in half, so I double and even triple the ingredient amount. Submitted by: Elizabeth S. Wiebelt - Harvey, La. |
