OVEN SWISS STEAK
Heavy duty aluminum foil
1/2 tbsp. butter
2 lbs. boneless chuck or thick round steak with all visible fat removed
1 (1 1/2 oz.) pkg. dry onion soup mix
1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
1/2 green pepper, seeded and sliced
1 (16 oz.) can whole tomatoes, chopped and drained, reserving juice
1/4 tsp. salt
Black pepper to taste
1 tbsp. A-1 steak sauce
1 tbsp. cornstarch

On large baking pan, spread about 24 inches of heavy duty aluminum foil and mold it to fit the pan, leaving the edges loose. Spread butter evenly on the foil. Set meat in pan (do not brown the meat). Sprinkle onion soup mix on top of meat, and then sprinkle the meat with the mushrooms, green pepper, tomatoes, salt, and pepper. In small bowl, combine the reserved tomato juice, the A-1 Steak Sauce, and cornstarch. Mix thoroughly and pour over meat and vegetables. Seal edges of foil tightly over the meat, and bake 2 1/2 hours at 350 degrees while you go out and do fun things.

This was excellent and so easy to make. I didn't have dry onion soup so I just sprinkled some onion salt on the steak and I used dice tomatoes with basil, garlic and oregano. I served it with wild rice and snap peas. My husband raved about it. I will definitely make this again and often.
