GRAHAM CRACKER TOFFEE
1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 c. butter, part butter if desired
3/4 c. coarsely chopped nuts ( I use walnuts)

Boil brown sugar and butter for 5 minutes, stirring mixture constantly. Add nuts. Take a 9 x 13 inch jelly roll pan and line with graham crackers which have been broken in halves. Pour brown sugar mixture with nuts over graham crackers. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes. While crackers are in oven, melt a 6 ounce package of semi sweet chocolate morsels in small pan or microwave. Spread chocolate on top of cookies while they are still warm. Let cool in refrigerator. When cool, break apart. Keeps best in can in refrigerator. Very good!

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

This is the one I used to make when the kids came home from school (1980's) and I had no snack! Takes only a short time to make, while you are asking how their day was and do they have home work. The ingredients are staples, the little ones can help,it's FAST and DELICIOUS! OK, a little Sugary, but hey, if we were perfect Moms we would have healthier things all ready to eat! the togetherness and communication for that immediate home from school time is priceless.
