APPLES AND SWEET POTATOES 
5 sweet potatoes
4 lg. apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1/2 to 1 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. honey
1/4 c. hot water

Boil sweet potatoes in water until almost tender. Peel and slice when cooled. Alternate layers of sliced potatoes and apples beginning with sweet potatoes and ending with apples. Cover each double layer with some of the sugar, salt and bits of butter.

On top layer of apples, sprinkle remaining brown sugar and dots of butter. Then sprinkle with nutmeg. Mix hot water and honey and pour evenly over top. Bake in a 400 degree oven until apples are tender, approximately 1/2 to 3/4 hour.

Delicious with ham or turkey.
