GREEN AND YELLOW SPLIT PEA SOUP 
1 c. dried yellow split peas
1 c. dried green split peas
1 1/2 qts. water
1 ham bone
2 c. beer
1 lg. onion, chopped
2 celery ribs, diced
2 med. sized carrots
Freshly ground pepper

Rinse peas and soak in water in a large kettle overnight. To cook, add ham bone, beer, vegetables and pepper to peas and their liquid. Bring to a boil and skim. Reduce heat, cover kettle and simmer for about 3 hours. Makes 6 servings.
