DELUXE YELLOW ANGEL CAKE | |
1 3/4 c. flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/3 c. egg yolk 1/4 tsp. salt 3/4 c. boiling water 1 tbsp. maple flavoring 1 c. white sugar 1/2 c. nuts, chopped Measure flour and set aside 2 tablespoons to dredge nuts. Sift remaining flour and baking powder 4 times. Beat yolks until thick. Add salt, then add hot water, pouring slowly and beating constantly until yolks stand in peaks. Add flavoring and sugar gradually, adding only 2 tablespoons at a time. Sift flour mixture gradually over yolks; fold in gently until flour disappears. Dredge nuts in 2 tablespoons flour. Fold nuts into mixture and push batter into ungreased tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Invert and let cool. |
