1 c. butter
2 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda, blend into flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix ingredients together. Put in refrigerator until dough is hard enough to slice. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes. (Use ungreased cookie sheet.)
