SWEET & SOUR HAWAIIAN RIBS 
2 lb. spareribs
2 tbsp. shortening
1 clove garlic
1 tsp. ginger
1/4 c. soy sauce
1/2 c. vinegar
2 tbsp. sugar
2 c. hot water
Cornstarch

Brown 2 inch pieces of ribs in shortening. Combine garlic, ginger, soy sauce, vinegar and sugar. Pour over ribs. Add hot water. Simmer 45 minutes. Remove ribs and thicken liquid with cornstarch. Reheat ribs in gravy and serve.
