HILDA'S HOMEMADE ROLLS | |
2 c. milk, scalded 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 egg, beaten 1 pkg. dry yeast 1/2 c. oil, Puritan or Wesson 7 c. flour Scald milk, add sugar, and salt while hot. Cool to lukewarm and mix in Mix Master. Beat to smooth batter. Add 1/2 of flour slowly, add oil -mix thoroughly - add more flour until dough gets too thick for Mix Master - then add remainder of flour by hand. If mixture is sticky, add more flour until it doesn't stick to your hands. Cover dough with oil, let rise until double in size, 2 hours. Turn out on board, roll to 1/4 inch, cut with biscuit cutter. Fold over, place on pan to rise double in size. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes or until brown. |
