BARBECUED BEEF | |
1/3 c. Crisco 2 lbs. diced lean beef 1 c. diced onion 1 c. diced celery 2 tbsp. vinegar 1 tbsp. lemon juice 2 tbsp. brown sugar 1 tbsp. salt 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 c. catsup or chili sauce 1 c. meat stock or 1 bouillon cube dissolved in 1 c. boiling water Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Melt Crisco in heavy skillet and brown meat, onions and celery. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and cook over low heat or in a slow oven, 325 degrees, until meat is tender, 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Serve on cooked rice, noodles, buns or toast. Note: Prepared barbecue sauce may be used instead of catsup or chili sauce. |
