APPLE SQUARES 
1 doz. apples, sliced and pared
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Dash of salt

PASTRY:

2 1/2 c. flour
3 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
2 eggs, separated
Milk
1 c. corn flakes

Mix flour, salt, shortening and sugar together with electric mixer. Beat yolk of 2 eggs and add enough milk to make 2/3 cup. Pour into above mixture and mix. Roll out half mixture and place on cookie sheet. Over this, crumble corn flakes. Place apples on next. Then roll remaining pastry mixture and place over apples.

Beat 2 egg whites and spread over the top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 50-60 minutes. Frost with powdered sugar glaze made of 1 cup powdered sugar and water. Drizzle on top while hot.
