DAY AHEAD SALAD | |
1 head lettuce (small) 2 ribs celery, chopped 1 green pepper, chopped 1 red onion (small), chopped 1 can sliced water chestnuts, drained 1 pkg. frozen peas Mayonnaise Parmesan cheese 1 jar bacon bits (Hormel) Large bowl Chop celery, peppers and onions into small, bite-size chunks. Tear lettuce into bite-size pieces. Layer ingredients in order shown above (lettuce on bottom, then celery, red and green peppers, onion, water chestnuts, frozen peas). Cover completely with mayonnaise, ensuring no open spaces or gaps near bowl sides. Cover mayonnaise with plenty of Parmesan cheese and then jar of bacon bits. Tightly cover with plastic wrap. Best if refrigerated overnight or 24 hours. Just before serving, mix in its own bowl and serve. Serves 10-12. |
