DALLAS DELIGHT OR FOUR - LAYER
DESSERT

CRUST:

1 c. flour
1 stick butter, melted
1/2-1 c. chopped pecans

FILLING:

1 lg. container Cool Whip
1 c. powdered sugar
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 (3 oz.) pkg. instant chocolate pudding
1 (3 oz.) pkg. instant French vanilla pudding
3 c. milk

Preheat oven for at least 10 minutes to 350°F.

Mix ingredients for crust together and spread into a 9 1/2 x 13 inch pan.

Bake for 20 minutes at 350°F. Cool.

In a bowl, mix 1 cup Cool Whip, powdered sugar and cream cheese; spread over cool crust. Mix pudding mixes together with milk; allow to set for a few minutes before spreading over cheese layer. Top with remainder of Cool Whip.

P.S. On St. Patrick's Day, I substitute pistachio pudding for chocolate pudding and call this "St. Patrick's Day Delight".

I love this recipe have for years. You can also use fresh strawberries. Slice strawberries add sugar to taste and use instead of chocolate pudding. Use a slotted spoon so you don't get too much juice, but you do want some. This will depends on your strawberries (how sweet, how juicy.) top with whipped cream or Cool Whip and top with pecans if you like.

Can you freeze this?

Hi Jackie,

I wouldn't freeze this but it should keep for 24 hours or so in the refrigerator.

Hope this helps!

I have made the pistachio pudding version of this recipe many times, however, for the crust I use 36 finely crushed Oreo Cookies mixed with one stick of butter. Every time I make it I end up passing on the recipe to more people! Last time I made it for my granddaughters class at school. I had calls that evening requesting the recipe from 23 mothers and 15 teachers at her school! This recipe is always a WINNER! I am making it tomorrow for our St. Patrick's Day dinner with family and friends on Saturday.

This is one thing that is sure to please a crowd or guest. I fixed this for a family get together at church last year. Someone asked me for the recipe. Next thing I knew more people were asking for it. I was prepared the last time I brought it to homecoming. I put a stack of sticky notes with the recipe written down beside the dish. I don't know what went quicker, the recipe or the dish. It's really simple, even for someone who isn't real familiar with cooking.

I loved this dessert that I served for my Ladies Bunco Group on St. Pat's Day. It is very refreshing and a pretty color of green and white. I want to try the chocolate version soon. It served about 15 of us. Loved the crust on the bottom especially. Easy!
