CINNAMON ROLL DOUGH 
1 pkg. active yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1 c. milk, scalded
2 tbsp. shortening
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 well beaten egg
3 1/2 c. flour or less
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. melted butter
3 heaping tsp. cinnamon

Soften yeast in water. Combine milk, shortening, sugar and salt; cool to lukewarm. Add yeast and egg, gradually add flour to form soft dough. Roll on floured surface into rectangle.

Combine 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup melted butter and 3 heaping teaspoons cinnamon. Spread over dough, sprinkle with raisins if desired. Roll up. Cut into 1 1/2 inch slices. Place in a 13x9 pan. Cover and let rise to double (1 hour). Bake 375 degrees for 20 minutes, brush butter over top of rolls while hot.
