RAISIN NUT TORTE 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening/oil
1 egg
1 3/4 c. flour
1 c. raisins
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda

Add raisins to boiling water. Cool. Meanwhile blend shortening and sugar. Add raisins and water. Add all other ingredients. Pour into greased 9 x 13 pan and bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Cool. Frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.

CREAM CHEESE FROSTING:

1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/4 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. powdered sugar

Mix first 3 ingredients. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until smooth.
